AHEC SCHOLARSHIPS AND FEE WAIVERS

In addition to federal grants and loans, students attending the Ardmore Higher Education Center may apply for other scholarships and fee waivers. The eligibility criteria varies, so students should carefully read requirements prior to making application.

McCrory Foundation Scholarship
This scholarship, funded by private sources, is available to Ardmore Higher Education Center students who are pursuing a course of study leading to a degree from one of our university and college partners. Students are required to apply for federal assistance by completing the FAFSA, however eligible applicants must not receive full funding for tuition and books from other sources. Applicants must provide an official college transcript or an official ACT report and a Student Aid Report. Students must maintain a minimum cumulative grade point average according to the following scale: 0-15 hours 2.0 GPA; 16-30 hours 2.5 GPA; Over 30 hours 3.0 GPA; and Graduate 3.5 GPA. Students with no previous college work must have a 3.0 cumulative average on their high school transcript or have scored 19 or above on the ACT test. Applications are available each semester.

Charles Barr Scholarship
This scholarship, funded by private sources, is available to Ardmore Higher Education Center students who are pursuing a course of study leading to a degree from one of our university and college partners. Henry Bridge Memorial Scholarship
Students are required to apply for federal assistance by completing the FAFSA. This scholarship, funded by private sources, is for financially needy students of southern Oklahoma who have demonstrated motivation to attend school through previous grade point average or ACT score. Students must be Oklahoma residents, enroll in a minimum of 6 credit hours, and meet cumulative grade point average or ACT score requirements. Application forms will be available in the Center administration office during the month of May. Recipients of the scholarship will be notified prior to the enrollment period for fall.

Murray State College Fee Waivers
Freshman and sophomore students taking Murray classes at the Center may apply. Students are required to apply for federal assistance for the present academic year and must submit results of the need analysis. Application forms are available in the MSC advisement center.

S.O.S.U. and E.C.U. Fee Waivers
Upper division students (junior and senior level) and graduate students may apply for fee waivers, provided funds are available. Students must meet eligibility requirements and enroll in classes from that institution. More information is available from the academic advisors at AHEC.

Indian Tribal Grant (Chickasaw Nation - Choctaw Nation)
Financial need is determined by the Federal Financial Aid Application. It is necessary to provide roll number by submitting a copy of your CDIB. Students may contact AHEC administrative staff for application forms.

Vocational Rehabilitation -
Students with an employable handicap may apply for payment of tuition to the Vocational Rehabilitative Services. Disabilities must be medically established and vocational objectives must be approved in advance by the appropriate counselor. The phone number for the Ardmore office is (580) 226-1808.

Big Five Community Services, Inc.
This program is targeted toward adults and youths who are eligible and in need of occupational skills training, serving low income individuals and dislocated workers. Questions regarding this program should be directed to Marsha Latham in the Ardmore Workforce office at 223-3291.

National Guard Fee Waiver
Oklahoma National Guard provides free tuition in the form of National Guard Fee Waivers for members of the guards. Details of the program can be obtained by calling 1-800-522-8042. Students may apply through the commander of their unit. A minimum of six credit hours is required each fall and spring term. Students are required to submit official fee waiver forms (signed by unit commander) at the time of enrollment. Miscellaneous fees, assessment, technology, processing and academic records fee must be paid at the time of enrollment.

G. I. Bill
Educational benefits are provided by the Veterans Administration for those who qualify. Students must be degree seeking and enroll in courses that apply toward that degree. Monthly pay is based on the number of hours students are enrolled in, with a minimum of 6 hours to receive monthly checks. Approximately 60 days are required for completion of all paperwork, so students should apply early. Students may obtain the Application for Educational Assistance form from the Center administration office.
